What will you learn?

As a candidate of the Dive Master program, you will be developing the skills to properly organize and supervise all scuba diving, skin diving and snorkeling activities. You will also be building on your existing water skills through knowledge development sessions, exercises, workshops and practical assessments.

The knowledge development activities and workshops cover the following topics:

  • Assume the role and capacity of the PADI Dive Master
  • Skills in supervising all diving activities and assisting with learning student divers
  • Diver safety precautions and risk management
  • Dive Master specialized skills
  • Business aspect of diving and careers in diving
  • Environmental awareness
  • Diving management and setup of equipment
  • Evaluating and mapping open water dive site
  • Conducting dive briefings
  • Organizing a deep dive
  • Organizing a search and recover project
  • Conduct a scuba review and skin diver course
  • Assist with Discover Scuba Diving and leading Discover Local Diving programs

Prerequisites

  • PADI Rescue Divers who are at least 18 years old
  • Must have completed the Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) within the past 24 months
  • Must have an official medical letter by a physician stating your physical condition within the last 12 months.
  • Must have at the minimum 40 logged dives to begin the course. You will need a total of 60 dives to earn the certification.
  • Other certifications may apply if you have one from other diving organizations. Consult with one of our instructors to discuss the application.

Becoming a Dive Master requires you to have exceptional water skills. You will have to know how to swim in proper form, regardless if you are not a strong swimmer. Your skills will be put to the test in our pool and you will be assessed by our instructors. The following will be included in your assessment:

  • 400 meters swimming
  • 15 minutes float/tread water
  • 800 meters snorkeling
  • 100 meters tired diver towing

Also along with few rescue skills need to be conducted in water skills workshop, that will be covered surfacing an unconscious diver, administer rescue breathing, remove scuba units and tow to the shore.

You will also have to participate in several rescue skills that will be conducted in the water skills workshop. These skills include surfacing an unconscious diver, administering rescue breathing, removal of scuba units and how to tow to the shore.

As a candidate of the Dive Master program, you will be required to learn in assisting dive instructors with certain water skills and cooperate closely with your dive mentor. Up to 24 basic scuba skills are expected to be mastered. You will be required to earn the maximum score of 5 in at least one of the water skills to successfully pass assessment.

We believe that by enrolling in the Dive Master program, not only will you have the official PADI Certification, but also gain a greater knowledge in diving and further deepen your diving journey.
